“Leading the way with innovation, professionalism and personal service” is the credo that defines Eye Associates of Alexandria.
I was raised in the Alexandria area and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1989. My parents live in the area and my only sibling, Jen, is a local veterinarian. I graduated from Hamline University in 1993, studying Biology and English. Pacific University, in Oregon, is where I attended optometry school, graduating in 1999, and meeting both my wife and future partner along the way. My externships brought me to Alaska where I had the honor of living on the army base to learn the finer points of acute eye care. Many of the skills I learned there I still apply today in our urgent care setting.
Outside of work, we are kept busy by our 3 kids, Gabe, Atti and Linnea. I am an avid fly-fisherman, enjoy travel, cooking and coaching and officiating youth sports.
I was born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota and did my undergraduate work at Mankato State University. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Human Biology in 1994 and from there went on to optometry school at Pacific University near Portland, Oregon. After graduating in 1998, I worked briefly in Owatonna, Minnesota before moving up to Alexandria in 1999. I worked for a few different eye clinics in Detroit Lakes and Wadena before starting at Eye Associates full time in 2003.
Dr. John and I were married in 1999 and have three children – Gabe, Atti and Linnea. We enjoy many different activities and are looking forward to taking all of them camping this year. John and I like to travel and although it is a little harder to get away these days, we still try to get some time to explore a new place when we get the chance.
I am happy to be in the Alexandria area and enjoy all the people I get to meet through my job at Eye Associates. I am happy to see patients of all ages and have particular interests in children’s vision and also in eye disease and prevention. I am a member of both the Minnesota and American Optometric Association.
I grew up in Ada, which is a small town located in northwest Minnesota. I did my undergraduate studies at Valley City State University in Valley City, ND achieving a Bachelor of Arts major in Chemistry and minor in Math. I attended Optometry school at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon and graduated in 1999. Upon graduation I worked at NW Eye Center in Thief River Falls, MN until moving to Alexandria in 2001.
My wife Sara and I have twin daughters Lauren and Madeline. Sara is an elementary teacher at the Osakis Public School. I enjoy spending time with my family on the lake and attending sporting events.
I am an active member of the Alexandria Rotary Club and Minnesota Optometric Association. I am also a registered high school sports official for football and basketball.
I grew up in Alexandria and feel fortunate to be living and practicing here in this great community. My education after high school began at Bemidji State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
I then went on to Pacific University College of Optometry, in Forest Grove Oregon and graudated in 1998.
My husband Jeff and I, have a daughter, Alycia and son, Aaron. We enjoy camping and sports and I especially enjoy bicycling.
I love seeing patients of all ages and am thankful for the new technologies that allow us to take better care of our patients each year.
Personal service is a defining characteristic of Eye Associates that starts the moment you walk in the door. Their opticians, with over 50 years of optical experience, utilize the best labs in the country to offer lens options custom tailored to meet your visual needs. A philosophy that has permeated the office for many years is to only offer products that they are proud to sell. Complete patient satisfaction has always been the guarantee at the eye clinic.
